Why We Started - Don't Bully.

As a parent, hearing that an 8 year-old boy has taken his own life, is devastating.  It is even more devastating to learn that this has happened because of bullying at school. How could kids be the reason that an 8 year-old boy has taken his own life?  How traumatizing, painful and scary it must have been for this kid, for him to think that the only solution for his problems, was for him to take his own life.  

I thought that it was not possible that 8 year-old kids could be that mean.  I thought something needed to be done.  I didn’t know what I was going to do or how I was going to do it?  I just knew that this kid would have wished to be helped, he would have wished for these kids to have stopped this horror. He would have wished to make these kids understand that bullying is not okay, that bullying has serious consequences, and that bullying in schools and anywhere else should not be tolerated.  He would have wished bullying to be stopped!  How could I help to educate small kids in a meaningful and a creative way so bullying can be stopped?

I came up with the idea of creating a-back-to school apparel collection, with creative designs and logos, to raise awareness. The idea was to create beautiful designs illustrating the emotions that kids go through when being bullied to raise awareness.  I thought we need real superheroes in our lives. We need kids that grow to stand up for the ones that cannot stand up for themselves.  We need kids that grow up to be loving and caring for others, that we all are valuable, and that life is only meaningful when we take care of each other.
